  Go once, go twice- dang it can sting. Keep going and you realize the messages are conviction blended with redemption yet completely engulfed with grace and mercy.
  Truth is hard to understand. Truth is hard to live. But before that, it is mostly hard to hear.

  I would not have sat through yesterday's service had it not been out of respect for my friends who regularly attend. My first experience, several weeks ago, was sub-par at best but I decided to give it another shot; however, I left the service feeling very victimized and upset. I felt the message (on the last few chapters of the Book of Judges) was focused on the "scare tactic," discussing only what was happening in the Book that was sinful. Raised Lutheran, God's Grace is something that my family and I value very highly. The thesis I took away from this message was that we are sinful people and it is our duty to live by God's Word perfectly, and if we do that, the world will be a better place (see; comments about a Bible in the house preventing abuse and divorce).
  My question to this church is:
  Where's the mention of God's love and grace? God knows that we are sinful creatures but he still loves us because we are his children. The sermon went on and on about the commandments that were broken in each story but what about the ones Jesus is quoted saying are the most important?
  "Love the Lord...this is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love thy neighbor as thyself." [Matthew 22:36-40]
