My father died in Austin at a rest home there, but his burial plot was in Oklahoma. Our Oklahoma funeral home put us in touch with Capitol Mortuary. They came to the rest home at 3 am to pick up the body. They were very sensitive and accommodating. We ordered a casket from Collier in Austin/SanAntonio, because in Oklahoma you are not allowed to buy your own casket. Capitol Mortuary then embalmed the body, put it in the casket we had bought from Collier, and held it in cold storage until we could arrange transport to Oklahoma. Meanwhile Capitol arranged the permit for interstate transfer, and took care of the death certificates. Transport arrived at Capitol Mortuary at 11 pm on Sunday night. There were two Capitol employees there to help load the casket into transport. It was a first class operation from start to finish. They didn't even asked to be paid until after the services were rendered. The service couldn't have been better. Capitol cannot serve the public directly. But, if you have a funeral home out of town, be sure to have them use Capitol as their contractor for the Austin preparations. For those who want a cremation, they do that too. Everything is first rate.
